The X Pedestal Table Base is a great design when working with a round table top. This calculator can also be adapted for oval tops by inputing the overall width for the short and long dimensions seperately.
X Pedestal Calculator Descriptions
Input Parameters
Overall Height: The overall height of the pedestal base.
Top + Bottom Height: The height of the bottom base plus the height of the top mounting bracket used.
Overall Width: The overall width of the pedestal base.
End Gap: The distance between the end of the cross support and the very end of the bottom of the base. This is the VERY end of the base, and the corners are cut at 45 degrees… This number should be at least 1.5x the height of your bottom tubing.
Middle Post Width: The width of the tubing used for the main post in the middile.
Middle Gap: The spacing between the two cross supports where they meet on the middle post. This can be a minimum of 0.
Output Parameters
Middle Post Length: The height of the main middle post required.
Miter Top / Bottom: The miter cut required for the end of the cross supports that connects to the bottom base or top mounting bracket. To get the actually angle, do 90 – this number.
Miter Middle: The miter cut required for the end of the cross supports that connects to the middle post. To get the actually angle, do 90 – this number.
Cross Support Length: The length of the 8 cross supports. This is measured on the long end of the piece (top side of the bottom pieces or bottom side of the top pieces)
Finished Designs
For reference, this one is 28″ tall and 48″ wide. It uses 3″x3″ tubing for the middle post and 1″x3″ for the bottom and cross supports.
